Saratoga Springs, NY may be home to thoroughbred horses, but sometimes it's also home to Goats. Indeed, the GTO Association of America had their annual convention in this town by the Adirondacks.
The outdoor Popular Vote show had every GTO from 1964-74/04-06 represented, like a gorgeous Sunfire Red '64 hardtop, a Midnight Green '69 Judge, and a gaggle of the oft-slighted '73s. The indoor Concours show had more drool materialhow does a 1968 Ram Air II ragtop grab ya? Or an original black '66 hardtop with wheelcovers and turquoise interior? A great "what-if?" was a '73 Super Duty GTO that was planned for production but never built except for an engineering mule. A crowd favorite was an authentic '68 Royal Bobcat GTO, but Best of Show was Rick Mahoney's Ram Air IV 1970 GTO Judge convertible. Restored by Scott Tiemann's Supercar Specialties, this is the ultimate GTO for many people... unless you prefer a 1-of-17 '71 Judge convertibleand there was one of those too!
Lest you think the cars were just sittin' pretty, there also was the Jim Wangers Invitational Drags at Lebanon Valley Dragway and, and an autocross with old and new GTOs alike. Enjoy the pics!
